Concept Mapping

- Concept Mapping—a mind tool or graphic organizer to help students understand the concepts of activities or lessons.

Concept mapping allows the learner to identify relationships between seemingly isolated concepts while developing a cohesive knowledge structure. This promotes in-depth learning rather than memorization and allows the learner to understand the global concept rather than isolated facts.

You can use concept maps to provide a basis for discussion among students and to summarize general course concepts. Concept maps support a style of learning. Mapping concepts can increase your ability to provide meaningfulness to students by integrating concepts.
